Car Accident Representation Across Houston & Harris County
Houston's freeways and surface streets produce some of the heaviest crash volumes in Texas — high-speed rear-end collisions on I-10, I-45, US-59 and the Sam Houston Tollway, intersection T-bones, and hit-and-runs across the metro. After a serious crash, the other driver's insurance company starts building its defense within hours. You deserve someone building yours just as fast.
Calderon Legal Group is a Houston-based personal injury firm. Will Calderon, a Texas-licensed trial attorney, personally reviews every car accident case the firm takes. We handle the adjusters, the paperwork, and the negotiation — and we prepare every file as though it will be tried in Harris County.
Every case is handled on contingency: you pay no attorney's fee unless we recover money for you, and the fee and cost terms are set out in a written agreement before we start. Bilingual (English/Spanish) intake is available 24/7. Call or text 832-261-5500 for a free case review.
The Houston Auto Collision Cases We Handle
Different crashes raise different legal and insurance issues. These are the collision types the firm handles across the Houston metro.
Rear-end and highway collisions
High-speed rear-end crashes on Houston freeways often cause neck, back and head injuries that take days to fully appear. Same-day medical documentation matters.
Intersection and red-light crashes
T-bone collisions at Houston intersections frequently turn on signal timing, witness statements and camera footage — evidence that must be gathered quickly.
Hit-and-run and uninsured drivers
Roughly 1 in 7 Texas drivers is uninsured. Your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage may be the real source of recovery — we review every available policy.
Drunk and distracted driving crashes
Crashes caused by impaired or distracted drivers can support additional damages under Texas law. We obtain the crash report and any criminal-case records that support your claim.
Rideshare (Uber & Lyft) crashes
Crashes involving rideshare vehicles can involve layered commercial policies. See our rideshare accident page for how that coverage works.
Serious injury and fatal crashes
When a crash causes catastrophic injury or takes a life, different claims and deadlines apply. Our wrongful death page explains who may bring a claim in Texas.
What To Do After A Houston Car Accident
The first 24 to 72 hours after a crash have the biggest impact on a claim. Our Houston car accident guide walks through the full 8-step checklist — scene safety, the police report, evidence, insurance calls, and medical care. The short version:
Call 911 and get a police report
Texas law requires a report for any crash with injury or a disabled vehicle. The CR-3 crash report is critical evidence — always request one.
Photograph everything before vehicles move
Vehicles, plates, the intersection, skid marks, debris and visible injuries. Get witness names and phone numbers before anyone leaves.
Get medical care the same day
Adrenaline masks soft-tissue and head injuries. A documented same-day visit ties your injuries to the crash and protects your claim.
Decline the recorded statement
You are generally not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer. You can politely decline and refer the adjuster to your attorney.
How We Evaluate A Potential Case
Not every crash produces a viable claim, and no honest lawyer can promise one at the outset. When you contact us, we review the facts before we tell you whether we can help. That review typically looks at:
Fault and the evidence that proves it
The crash report, scene photos, witness accounts, vehicle damage and any available video. Texas bars recovery if you are more than 50% responsible, so fault allocation matters from day one.
The injuries and their documentation
Medical records, treatment plans, and how the injury affects your work and daily life. Gaps in treatment give adjusters room to dispute the claim.
The insurance actually available
The at-fault driver's policy, any commercial or employer coverage, umbrella policies, and your own UM/UIM coverage. A strong claim still depends on a source of recovery.
Deadlines
Texas generally allows two years to file suit, but claims against a governmental entity can require notice in as little as 90 days. If the deadline is a problem, we will tell you directly.
What It Costs To Hire Us
Nothing upfront. Calderon Legal Group handles car accident cases on a contingency fee: the firm is paid a percentage of any recovery, and if there is no recovery, you owe no attorney's fee. Case expenses are typically advanced by the firm. The exact fee and cost terms are explained in a written agreement before representation begins — ask anything before you sign.
A case review is free and creates no obligation. If we are not the right firm for your matter, we will tell you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Houston car accident lawyer cost?
Nothing upfront. Calderon Legal Group works on contingency — the firm is paid only if we recover money for you, and case costs are typically advanced by the firm. The fee and cost terms are set out in a written agreement before we start.
How long do I have to file a car accident claim in Texas?
Generally two years from the date of the crash under Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code §16.003. Claims against a governmental entity — the City of Houston, METRO, or Harris County — can require written notice in as little as 90 days, so it is best to ask early.
What if the driver who hit me in Houston has no insurance?
You may be able to recover under your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. We also look for commercial, employer and umbrella policies that may apply to the at-fault driver.
What if I was partly at fault for the crash?
Texas uses a modified comparative fault rule. You can recover if you are 50% or less at fault, but your recovery is reduced by your share of responsibility. At 51% or more, you recover nothing. Fault is often disputed — do not assume the adjuster's version is final.
Do I need a lawyer for a minor car accident?
Not always. If nobody was hurt and the damage is minor, you may be able to handle the claim yourself. If anyone was injured, fault is disputed, or an adjuster is pressuring you to settle quickly, a free case review can tell you whether representation would actually help.
What is my Houston car accident case worth?
There is no honest way to quote a number without reviewing the facts. Value depends on the injuries and future care, lost income, the percentage of fault assigned, and the insurance actually available. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
Should I give the insurance company a recorded statement?
You are generally not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer. Statements taken early — before the full extent of your injuries is known — are frequently used to minimize a claim. You can decline and refer the adjuster to your attorney.
Do you offer Spanish-speaking intake?
Yes. Our intake team handles English and Spanish 24/7. Call or text 832-261-5500.
